Calling all Knitters, Crocheters, & Fiber Artists!

She is looking for donations of new handmade hats, gloves, and scarves that she can bedazzle and give to women in need. This year the donations go to Auburn Rescue Mission and a Syracuse based organization serving the Southside community: The People’s Church, led by Pastor Daren Jaime along with one of their members, and a local entrepreneur Shankevia Dean, owner of Kevi’s Treats.

Last year, knitters connected to the Schweinfurth Art Center made more than 100 pieces which were bedazzled and given away in just a few minutes at the Auburn Rescue Mission shelter last November. Every year the project grows with donations coming in from as far away as New Hampshire.

If you would like to join the effort, you can drop off completed hats, gloves and scarves at the Schweinfurth anytime between now and October 15, 2022.

Items can be mailed to the Art Center at Attn: Warm Hearts Donation Schweinfurth Art Center, 205 Genesee Str. Auburn, NY 13021.

Handmade wearable items whether knitted, crocheted, felted, or sewn …etc.. are accepted. Johnson will add beads, glass diamonds. and other embellishments to the knitwear before giving it away.
