Faces of Tomorrow: An Exhibit of Portraits by Ellen M. Blalock

Join Auburn’s Juneteenth celebration at Booker T. Washington Community Center to hear artist and storyteller Vanessa Johnson perform Resist! Stories of African American Struggle and Resistance. Johnson will perform at 12:30 p.m.
Also tour Faces of Tomorrow at Booker T. Washington Community Center beginning June 15. The exhibit of 20 large photographs of Auburn’s children and 15 smaller, framed images of Black and biracial families were created by Schweinfurth artist-in-residence Ellen M. Blalock. Many of the people Blalock photographed are descendants of Harriet Tubman’s brothers, whom she guided to freedom.
The show will be open during the center’s regular hours through at least July 15. Stop by to see a preview of the images that will appear in Blalock’s Auburn’s Black family yearbook, coming in September.
