NYS Equal Rights Heritage Center

September 12, 9AM-1PM

FREE

On September 12, 2026, in collaboration with Frontenac Historical Society, Tour Cayuga, and the Harriet Tubman National Historical Park, the NYS Equal Rights Heritage Center will be hosting “The Underground Railroad Today” festival in Auburn, NY. To commemorate America 250, this event will be a celebration of local cultures throughout Cayuga County that promotes community building, historical education, and social tolerance and understanding. It will focus on the intersection of community development, cultural diversity, and civic action through the historical lens of the Underground Railroad. To tie in with this theme, the event will be hosted in conjunction with Underground Railroad Week and grow awareness of the Harriet Tubman Byway project and the upcoming Freedom 2027 commemoration (200th anniversary of abolition in New York State).

Enjoy food samples, music from SingTrece, keynote speakers, presentations, a community discussion circle, and more! ASL interpretation will be provided by Interpretek through the National Park Service.

Between now and September 12, bring dry food to the Equal Rights Heritage Center to support the Dry Food Drive to aid local communities! These will be distributed following the event.
